Rationale of use

In Croatia, sectoral workshops were held across key agricultural industries to ensure that Croatia’s CAP Strategic Plan was shaped by those directly impacted. These workshops provided a platform for stakeholders—including producers, cooperatives, associations, and industry experts—to voice their needs and refine policy interventions.

Functioning

Several sectoral workshops were organized to gather input and refine policies for different agricultural sectors: - Winemaking sector: The Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Association of Winemaking at the Croatian Chamber of Economy, conducted a survey to gather feedback on support measures. Regional workshops and meetings further helped shape policies and refine interventions tailored to the winemaking industry. - Fruit and Vegetables sector: Efforts were focused on raising awareness about producer organizations, a relatively new concept in Croatia. A series of twenty regional workshops brought together farmers, cooperatives, and development agencies, leading to the creation of a guide for producer organizations, which was published online alongside a dedicated email support service for stakeholders. - Beekeeping sector: The Ministry of Agriculture consulted extensively with the Croatian Beekeeping Federation, representing 7,000 members across 150 associations. Through multiple meetings, beekeeping representatives contributed to shaping sector-specific interventions and aligning financial allocations with the needs of the industry. - Dairy sector: In collaboration with the World Bank, the Croatian Agricultural Chamber and the Ministry of Agriculture organized online workshops to identify strategies for improving economic and environmental sustainability in milk production. The workshops emphasized strengthening producer associations, enhancing market structures, and developing support systems to ensure the long-term viability of the dairy sector.

The sectoral workshops played a role in shapings Croatia's CAP Strategic Plan by ensuring that policy measures reflected sector-specific needs.
