Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) data collection through the SOC indicator map

Rationale of use

The Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) indicator map could help in assessing policy impacts on soil carbon content and in supporting the transfer of sustainable indicators to other systems like FADN/FSDN. This tool is being tested in one of the Case Studies of Tools4CAP.

Functioning

The tool is rooted in the project WORLDSOILS. It aims to create a Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) index map, using Earth Observation data (primarily from Sentinel satellites) along with auxiliary variables and geo-referenced soil samples to assess CAP's impact on SOC levels.

Types of outputs

The tool outputs a Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) index map for monitoring environmental impacts.
