Rationale of useIn Portugal, iSIP is employed to update field information collection, enhance farmer interactivity, and provide legal backing, such as eco-schemes.It is an interactive platform with a geographical dataset that provides information on rural property, allowing for applications to subsidies as well as compliance monitoring.
FunctioningiSIP is a pubic access online platform and a technology-based tool. It comprises a database of georeferenced datasets, used for annual checks on agricultural parcels and farming practices, updating the database, and allowing farmers to confirm or refute collected data (farmers can submit changes that are uploaded to the Parcel Identification System (SIP) and the system is subsequently updated). It includes information on legal constraints, agri-environmental measures, and eco-schemes, as well as relevant information for rural property management. In line with European regulation, it follows the definition of 'reference parcel'. Due to its interactive nature, users can update information related to their parcels (surface, delimitation, installed crops), calculate the parcels' maximum eligible area for subsidies, apply for subsidies, check which requirements they have to comply with.
Types of outputsPublic access outputs include satellite/geographical data collection (parcel delimitation, crop occupation, special conditions associated with the parcels, forest occupation (by type), protected areas, Special Protection Zones and Special Conservation Zones), legal constraints, and geotagged photos, all of which can be confirmed or rejected and exported by farmers through the IFAP-Mobile App.
