Rationale of use
In Portugal, the Irrigation Calendar tool is designed to monitor irrigation areas and guide irrigation decisions for crops. It also plays a key role in evaluating both performance and compliance with regulatory requirements.Functioning
The tool assesses irrigation systems' efficiency, crop water requirements, and legal constraints. It is supported by two additional tools that provide agrometeorological data and irrigation insights, helping farmers manage their crop water needs in accordance with FAO methodology. Irrigation details are also input into the management tool for monitoring water use.Types of outputs
