Tools4CAP Academy Module X – From knowledge to practice: introducing the Tools4CAP Handbook for the next generation of agricultural policy

17 September 2026, 13.00 - 15.00 CEST
Online

On 17 September 2026, from 13.00 to 15.00 CEST, Tools4CAP held its tenth and final Academy module online: “From knowledge to practice: introducing the Tools4CAP Handbook for the next generation of agricultural policy”. See agenda here.

The module took place at a timely moment, as discussions on the post-2028 CAP framework are advancing alongside the proposed National and Regional Partnership Plans (NRPPs) and the CAP Chapter.

The session focused on the Tools4CAP Handbook of Good Practices, one of the project’s key outputs, and on how the lessons generated through the project can support future agricultural policy planning.

Using the first chapter of the Handbook as a starting point, the module will explore how strategic planning for agricultural policy is evolving. It will examine the move from evidence-based to evidence-informed policymaking, reflect on the experience of the current CAP Strategic Plans, and present the main discussions currently taking place on the post-2028 framework, including the proposed NRPPs and the CAP Chapter. The session will conclude with an interactive discussion on the governance issues likely to influence future strategic planning.

Objectives of the module:
  • To reflect on the experience of the current CAP Strategic Plans and the lessons that can inform future planning.
  • To discuss the move from evidence-based to evidence-informed policymaking and what this means for future agricultural policy.
  • To become familiar with the current discussions on the post-2028 policy framework, including the proposed National and Regional Partnership Plans (NRPP) and the CAP chapter.
  • To provide recommendations to strengthen the Handbook before its publication and maximise the long-term value of both resources
