Good Practice Workshop: Use of evaluations for improving policy and for ex ante assessments to prepare the next CAP

2-3 June 2026
Helsinki, Finland

The European Evaluation Helpdesk for the CAP is organising a Good Practice Workshop on the “Use of evaluations for improving policy and for ex ante assessments to prepare the next CAP”, which will take place in Helsinki, Finland, on 2–3 June 2026. Hosted by the Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry together with the Finnish National CAP Network, this in-person event will focus on how evaluation findings can be used both to improve the implementation of the current CAP and to inform the ex ante assessment processes for the future CAP.

The workshop aims to strengthen the knowledge of CAP evaluation stakeholders on the practical use of evaluation findings and recommendations for policy improvement and future policy design. It will also provide a space for the exchange of concrete experiences, approaches, and lessons learned from CAP evaluations, other EU funds, and research projects, with the goal of supporting more effective and evidence-based policy choices.

Bringing together Managing Authorities, Paying Agencies, CAP Networks, evaluators, and other relevant stakeholders, the event will also offer opportunities for networking and peer learning. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on how evaluation can better support both current policy delivery and the preparation of the next CAP.
