At the Agrifood Policy Conference, the opening plenary will set the scene for the EU’s agrifood strategy in the years ahead, focusing on how Europe can balance competitiveness, sustainability, resilience and consumer trust amid evolving trade dynamics and supply-chain pressures.
The programme then deep-dives into four linked debates: (1) how to align EU regulation with trade negotiations beyond Mercosur while safeguarding farmers and strategic interests; (2) how the post-2027 CAP can best support stability for farmers while delivering on environmental ambitions in a more competitive global market; (3) whether the Unfair Trading Practices Directive is delivering fairness and transparency in the food chain and what gaps remain; and (4) what the Omnibus Package could mean for maintaining Europe’s high food and feed safety standards—covering issues from pesticide authorisation to border controls—at the heart of public trust and market stability.
